‘Trek for a Cause’ was organized on Sunday to clean up Kallippara to spread and act on the message of responsible tourism. The vast team of volunteers cleared up more than 20 bags of plastic bottles and plastic waste from the area. Around 12 lakhs of tourists visited Kallippara to enjoy the sight of Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana) blooms last month. Many of the tourists throw away plastic bottles, food waste, and plastic covers creating an utter menace around this tourist destination.

KITES would like to thank Santhanpara’s Gram Panchayat Secretary, Ramshad, for inaugurating and supporting the cleaning drive and awareness campaign. KITES India Managing Director Claire C John, Chief Executive Officer Ajmal Chakkarapadam, The Future Project Director Vishnu Ullas, and Program Coordinator Gayathri C Raj took part in the Campaign. More than 30 Volunteers from various parts of the state joined in the event.
