A sustainable tourism project focusing on the development of Munnar, which connects expertised people across the nation to work towards resolving the social causes of the place.
Why?
Most of the beautiful destinations of Munnar are unknown to the Tourists and general public. The Tourists of Munnar lack proper guidance and infrastructure in every destination.
When?
The programme was officially launched in the Month of February by Shri.M.M Mani and Shri.C Ravindranath Honorable Ministers of Power and Education respectively. It is in its 2nd phase now.
About Us
Munnar Vibgyor Tourism Project, as the name suggests, is a sustainable tourism initiative by kites foundation in association with district administration Idukky to resolve the unidentified problems of Munnar, as a Tourist destination.The tourism project was launched by Shri.M.M Mani and Shri.C Ravindranath, Honorable Ministers of Power and Education respectively. Hello Munnar, a progressive web app designed for the ease of information access was also launched in the ceremony. The project seeks to improve the discoverability of Munnar by providing necessary route based information to the tourists. For an enhanced tourism experience, Seven routes have been identified in Munnar which are aptly described by the seven rainbow colours, The VIBGYOR.
Our Vision
As a team of young visionaries, we would like to combine our strength inorder to build a methodology to sustainably bring a development places such as Munnar, and set it as an example for similar drives in the future.Through using our products such as hello munnar , a tourist should be able to experience the feasible happiness from heart.
Our Mission
Through this project , we collectively consider technology as one of the strong weapons to resolve the social issues of Munnar as an important tourist destination.We act as an intermediary between government, technical people, data analysers, content writers, designers, guides and so on.
Our Plans
As part of this project, a progressive web application named hello munnar was launched, which guides the tourists to more than 65 destinations of Munnar, divided into 7 different routes, identified by VIBGYOR colours.The project was initiated with a Code4Munnar three day hackathon in Munnar Engineering College.The project is in its 2nd phase of adding more amenities and information related to each destination. Nilgiri Tahr adorned in Neelakurinji flowers has been chosen as the mascot for VIBGYOR Tourism.
Hello Munnar

Hello Munnar is a progressive web app designed as a support tool for the
project MUNNAR VIBGYOR TOURISM by Kites Foundation in collaboration with District
Administration, Idukki.
The app creates a travel friendly experience for the tourists and
improves the discoverability of Munnar by branching the tourist destinations into 7
routes and identifying them with VIBGYOR colours.Each route has a particular colour and
a story behind each colour best describes its uniqueness.
Hello Munnar app is launched as a website with inbuilt QR Code Scanning System.
Tourists reaching Munnar can access the app easily by scanning the Quick Response
code displayed in the public places of Munnar such as bus stands,auto
rickshaws,restaurants etc.
It is built as a progressive web app that can also be viewed as an application on a
mobile phone so that visitors can access the information required even in the absence of
proper Network connectivity.
The app has authorized information on all the destinations, the KSRTC bus timings,
the
important activities of Munnar and its details clearly designed with a simplified User
Experience.
Code4Munnar

A three - day Hackathon event organised by KITES Foundation in association with District
Administration,Idukki at College of Engineering, Munnar on 29 ,30 & 31st of January,2021
The prime intention of the event was to build the ‘ Hello Munnar’ web application
to implement the concept of VIBGYOR TOURISM in Munnar initiated by KITES Foundation.
The event was open to the public and around 50 delegates who took part in the
Hackathon were monitored by a team of experienced IT Mentors.
The official Logo of the project, designed by a group of proficient designers was
launched by MP. Adv. Dean Kuriakose of Idukki Constituency.
