Kites Foundation is excited to invite young, aspirant minds to join a noble venture through a unique internship experience. As a youth-led organisation, dedicated to collective action, Kites is extending a dual opportunity to learn and contribute to societal development. This internship is a great opportunity for those who are passionate about improving their skills and channelising them for noble causes.

The interns have the freedom to choose among the 6 areas of their choice; education, media, environment, health, livelihood and technology, for better development in their skill and experience.

Roles

1. Content Writing (work from home)

Content writers under Kites are passionate creators, dedicated to influencing positive change in society. Writing for Kites is not limited to improving skill and experience; it extends to channelling art towards spreading the organisation's message of collective action for a better tomorrow and by doing so, being part of the change that everyone wants to see in this world.

Selected interns are expected to support the causes that Kites stand for and effectively contribute to the team's creative output.

Responsibilities:

    Create original website, technical and social media content, blog posts, campaign posts, emails and copy written content.

    Edit and proofread content.

    Engage in content brainstorming with the media team, other interns and volunteers.

    Employ SEO (search engine optimization) strategies to devise content tailored for the website, social media and blog posts.

    Write and edit content within the given time frame

Preferred Skills

    Spoken and written proficiency in either one or more languages mentioned- English, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi.

    Creative and technical writing skills.

    Able to deliver content within the specified time period.

    Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written. verbal and written.

    Dedicated towards social work and willingness to work together.

    Proficiency in MS Word and Google docs.

    Good research skills

    Adaptable to manage different types of content.

2. Graphic Designing (work from home)

The media team under Kites works relentlessly to put out original and creative designs that perfectly visualise the organisation's message. The interns get the opportunity to challenge themselves along with contributing to a greater cause.

Selected interns are expected to support the causes that Kites stand for and effectively contribute to the team's creative output.

Responsibilities:

    Create and design original posters, videos, social media posts and logos.

    Engage in design brainstorming with the media team, other interns and volunteers.

    Design and edit content within the given time frame.

Preferred Skills

    Experienced with UI, UX, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

    Able to deliver content within the specified time period.

    Dedicated towards social work and willingness to work together.

    Ability to implement and execute tasks innovatively.

3. Photography Internship (on-site)

Kites members and volunteers execute the organisation’s initiatives in different places, spreading the message of collective affirmation. It is necessary to document the various projects for legal purposes as well as to advocate the causes to potential donors. The interns will get the opportunity to work alongside Kites members to spread the message of social justice and equality.

Selected interns are expected to support the causes that Kites stand for and effectively contribute to the team's creative output.

Responsibilities:

    Conduct photoshoots for the assigned projects.

    Colour correct, resize and enhance images .

Preferred Skills

    Skilled in Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator.

    Creativity.

    Flexibility.

    Attention to detail.

4. Editing Internship(Work from Home)

Kites always push for creative ways to spread their message to potential volunteers and donors. On social media platforms as well as on the official website, Kites broadcasts its social work that attempts to make the world a better place. The interns will get the opportunity to work with the team to build their skills and contribute to the causes that Kites stand for.

Selected interns are expected to support the causes that Kites stand for and effectively contribute to the team's creative output.

Responsibilities:

    Create and edit creative videos for the website, youtube and other social media platforms

    Brainstorm with the project heads regarding assigned works.

    Come up with creative ideas for video shoots.

Preferred Skills

    Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Indesign.

    Flexibility.

    Excellent time management skills.

5. Web Development Internship (Work from Home)

Kites official website is a user-friendly destination for all the information regarding its completed and ongoing initiatives, along with other relevant information. The web developers under Kites relentlessly work towards making the website look and work smooth. The interns will get the opportunity to work with the team to build their skills and contribute to the changes that Kites work towards.

Selected interns are expected to support the causes that Kites stand for and effectively contribute to the team's creative output.

Responsibilities:

    Manage the website

    Troubleshoot IT issues Engage with the different departments to manage the content of the website.

Preferred Skills

    Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap.

    Skilled in client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery.

    Ability to execute given tasks on time.

    Dedicated towards Kites’ vision and willingness to work together.

6. Project Coordination Internship (Administration and Support)

What makes Kites stand out is its different and unique projects that tackle social issues through collective action. Such initiatives require thorough planning and coordination. The interns are required to work with the project heads to ensure the success of the assigned projects. The internship offers two different positions of ‘administration’ and ‘support’.

I. Administration (on-site)

Each Kites project is executed with great care, involving members from different departments of expertise. The administration interns are required to work closely with the project heads to ensure the projects run smoothly and effectively and act as a liaison between the project heads and the members from the different departments. Selected interns are expected to support the causes that Kites stand for and effectively contribute to the team's creative output.

    Organize project reports, keep track of expenses and plan meetings.

    Assign and keep track of the tasks given to different departments.

    Engage in brainstorming with the project heads and other members.

    Provide detailed updates to project heads.

Preferred Skills

    Proficient in MS Word, Google Docs and MS Excel.

    Ability to approach uncertain problems with efficiency.

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

    Ability to multitask without compromising the quality of the output.

    Dedicated towards Kites’ vision and willingness to work together.

II. Support (work from home/on-site)

The responsibilities of a project head are several and require a lot of attention to numerous aspects. Supporting interns are required to assist the project heads in organizing and executing the different parts of an initiative.

Selected interns are expected to support the causes that Kites stand for and effectively contribute to the team's creative output.

    Assist the project heads in the planning and executing of projects.

    Support in developing reports, organizing meetings and keeping track of the project’s progress.

    Engage in brainstorming with the project heads.

Preferred Skills

    Proficient in MS Word, Google Docs and MS Excel.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7. Fundraiser

In every NGO, donations play a crucial role in fuelling its purpose and vision. Not just moral support, but monetary aid is also necessary for bringing positive social change. The interns are expected to be dedicated to Kites’ mission and contribute to the growth of the organisation.

Selected interns are expected to support the causes that Kites stand for and effectively contribute to the team's creative output.

Responsibilities:

    Have a thorough understanding of the projects assigned for fundraising.

    Connect with the project head to bring forth strategies for fundraising.

Preferred Skills

    Excellent communication skills.

    Good research skills.

    Compelling.

    Dedicated towards the cause.

Rather than assigning work from day one, Kites is offering a proper orientation and guidance for the interns so that they understand the concept of social work, the organisation of Kites, its structure and its team better. Along with that, certified workshops for technical internships like web development and graphic designing by experts will also be provided. The interns will be able to work in a friendly environment to grow their skills and connect with the Kites family.
